A downloadable game for Windows and Linux

About

AI Assistant Ivory is a short interactive fiction made in Godot for the ☼ SCREAM SOLSTICE ☼ game jam. You just found a digital personal assistant powered by a brand new AI! Jump right in and discover the possibilities!

I don't want to spoil too much, but as the jam is about horror themed games, the game might scare you. No jump scares, though.

It is rather short and can be completed in a few minutes or so. But the dialog depends on what you choose, so please try out something else in another play through! There are a few Easter eggs to be found.

Controls

You can advance the dialog by pressing the left mouse button or hitting enter/space on your keyboard. To confirm any text you entered into a text box just hit enter or use the supplied "Enter" button. Buttons that offer you different options can be pressed by mouse or with the shortcuts 1, 2 and 3 (if the focus is not on a text box).

Work of others

There are different assets used that were made by others, namely the font and all music tracks and sound effects. See the included licence files for any details. All sound effects and music tracks not explicitly mentioned in the licence files were taken from the HUMBLE MUSIC AND SOUND EFFECTS FOR GAMES, FILMS, AND CONTENT CREATORS BUNDLE that may not be used outside the game.

Source

The game's source code is available here. You need Godot 3.2 to run the game. Also all audio assets have been replaced with empty samples. This way it should be ready to run if you check out the repository and load it up in the Godot editor, but you won't hear anything. See the repository for details and licences.

Haven't played much yet so idk if this is intentional but after it said there are a ton of characters that are unsupported so I put "Bob567/[\;\=09&^$@$%/]" and it closed. If it's supposed to open an app and use it to scare me somehow it hasn't done anything yet.

Edit: I reopened the game and put just "bob" and it worked

Edit 2: Holy sh*t it knows my computer

i almost shitted my pants /J ngl i got scared

Thanks, happy to help scare. Hope you recovered, though. :)

The Linux version doesn't work, so I had to run it in Wine (it's software that allows to run Windows programs on Linux). I'm grateful to you. Thanks to your game I realized that my Wine was configured in a way that allowed access to home catalog and Desktop folder of my LINUX system for WINE programs, who are supposed to be living in their own parallel world. I changed settings, so it's not a problem now.

Thanks for your report. How exactly does it not run? Are there any messages when you run it from the command line? I've developed and tested it on Linux, so it does run on my machine. Which distro are you using?

./AI Assistant Ivory.x86_64: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libm.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.27' not found (required by ./AI Assistant Ivory.x86_64

Debian GNU/Linux 9.7 (stretch)

Thanks, that helps. Apparently Debian Stretch comes with an older version of GLIBC. I'll take a look into setting up a build machine to support older distros in the future.
