The Ferryman
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
You are Charon, ferryman of the underworld. The souls of the dead seek to cross the river Styx on their path to the real of Hades. You help the souls reach the other side.
Alas, a war is raging in the world of the living, so many more souls than usual come to the shores of the river. Hurry, ferryman, before the wandering souls get lost!
Gameplay
Play a match-3 game to help the souls of the recently deceased cross the river Styx so they can reach the underworld. It is a battle against time as the souls arrive with an ever increasing rate, so eventually you will not be able to keep up. Try to get as many passengers over the river as possible before this happens!
Controls
There is a how-to-play available in-game. You just need a mouse to play. Optional controls are
- M: toggle music
- +: increase music volume
- -: decrease music volume
- ESC: toggle pause
Other Information
The game has been made with Godot during and for the Godot Wild Jam #9. I wasn't able to implement everything I had in mind, but it is playable and as polished as I could to in that time.
I used a custom build and export templates for Linux and Windows, so there might me engine related bugs. The Windows version is only tested via wine, there were some audio issues on my side. For the MacOS-Build I used an export template kindly provided by Hugo Locurcio at https://hugo.pro/projects/godot-builds/. I could not test that due to unavailable hardware, so I can't offer any support for that.
Third party assets
There are some third party assets included. Please read the file third.party.licences.md which is included in the downloadable archives for details.

Linux version won't start.
~/Downloads/the-ferryman-linux$ ./ferryman.x86_64

It seems the latest Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS uses older lib.

Thanks for your report, I will look into it and see if I can provide an alternative build which links against 2.27.
I could reproduce your report in a Ubuntu 18.04 VM which I then used to compile a new export template. For me this fixes the issue as I was able to run the game when bundled with this template. I gave uploaded it separately, the file is named the-ferryman-linux-ubuntu-18-04.zip. Please give it a try and see if you as well can now run the game.
I can confirm that. The new build runs. Thank you.
Pretty nice game. Nice work.
Great, that's reassuring to hear. Thanks again for your report and your kind words, very appreciated!
